Klondike 2013

After weeks of getting ready, Klondike finally arrived. The weather was amazing with just the right amount of snow.

Everyone had a great time especially the guys doing their first Klondike.  Even the adult leaders who volunteered looked like they were having fun.

There were 31 sleds teams from 16 different Scout troops from our council.

There were many different events and we had a hard time getting to all of them. From what I heard people chattering about, each sled team did their best to score points and have fun.

At the end of the day on Saturday, everyone was very tired, but we all survived Klondike 2013.

Congratulations to each of the groups who won a trophy! The Dragons sled team from 137 took 3rd place in the Warriors Division and Da Blues sled team took 3rd place in the Braves division.  The Warriors also took 3rd place in the sled race at the end of the day. Great work guys!

Here are some of the great pictures that many people from our troop were able to take.  Thanks for sending them. I will be posting new photos, so stop back often.

Countdown to Klondike

At our last Scout meeting we had a team event to build the highest tower to hold an egg.  We could only use paper and tape.  We learned the importance of working as a team and putting our heads together to think through a problem.

Getting Ready for Klondike

For the past few meetings we have been meeting with our sled teams to prepare for Klondike Derby. Last week we brushed up on our fire building skills. Next up is working on our team skills.

Congratulations Mr. Moyer!

Council has announced that Mr. Moyer is one of only seven dedicated Scouters in Council this year to receive the highest recognition for service to youth, the Silver Beaver Award.

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest award a local council can present to an adult volunteer of the
Boy Scouts of America. The award is presented to those volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to the Scouting program. Nominations are recommended by the local council and approved by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

The award will be presented at the Annual Council Recognition Dinner on February 21, 2013.

And the Winner Is

This year’s winner of the Cobbler Iron Chef competition is the Snipe Patrol with the Border Patrol in 2nd place.

The Shooting competition, held at Camp Delmont in November, was won by the Hornet Patrol.
