Iron Chef 2012

At the December 13 Troop Meeting, we held an Iron Chef competition with the theme of cobbler. Each patrol planned a different recipe. This was the first Iron Chef experience for the 1st year scouts and it seemed like each of them had a great time cooking in the competition. The patrols planned out what kind of cobbler they were going to make at the meeting the week before and figured out who was going to get the supplies.

Thanks to Mr. Reeves there was a nice warm fire when everyone arrived at the cabin. And by the time the patrols were ready to put the dutch ovens on the fire there were a lot of nice hot coals waiting for them! The cobblers were judged by two adult leaders and Chris K.

The winner of the 2012 Iron Chef will be announced this week.

Holiday Flower Sale 2012

This year's sale was fantastic!  We sold almost 400 poinsettias and wreaths. I'm sure our customers were happy with what they bought!

The Holiday Flower Sale is a great way for the Scouts to earn money for their scout accounts. Thanks to Mrs. Frisbie for organizing the sale this year.

November 16-18, 2012: Rifle Shooting Weekend at Camp Delmont

On Friday we arrived at the Pioneer Cabin and found that Mr. Moyer arrived early and started a fire for the Troop.  After unloading the trailer, we decided whether to stay in the warmth of the cabin or rough it in a tent.

On Saturday morning we warmed up with a hot breakfast and heard it got down to 27 degrees on Friday night.  We had a short walk to the rifle range and learned about rifle safety and how to aim the rifles.  We learned about which eye is dominant which is important for shooting. We shot in groups of ten until lunchtime.

After lunch some of the boys decided to hang out at camp while others went back to the range for more target practice.

As the afternoon began to wind down, the adults and Scouts began to prepare the Thanksgiving feast.

When dinner was ready we all met under the pavilion.  There were four or five turkeys and huge trays of mashed potatoes and stuffing.  For dessert we had fresh made apple pies and pumpkin pies, too.

On Sunday morning Levi from Duct Tape patrol said a prayer and we had our troop reflection before departing.

Top Five Fun Things from Rifle Shooting Weekend
